There should exist cypher to do on the browser end information technology you lot can connect to the FTP server and it is showing the files. Can you correct click the files and select save as? Is in that location a setting on the user for the number of concurrent downloads the can exercise?

I am pretty sure that unless you are using an FTP customer such as Windows Explorer uploading is not an selection.  Browsers such equally Google Chrome and Cyberspace Explorer tin view but not upload, delete, or rename files on and FTP site.

When you connect from say Filezilla client is it connecting to you server in passive or active manner? I'm wondering if your firewall (XP or hardware) is blocking passive way. Most of the client FTP programs volition automatically try both modes.

I have never uploaded any sort of file via a web browser and I don't think information technology can be done. You demand a standalone client. Downloading shouldn't be an event.

Nosotros run Filezilla and in my instance I tin upload from IE through choosing View > Open FTP Site in Explorer then you lot can drag and drop or copy and paste into the directory. That's internal or external.

@Sean - Yes this is the normal behavior.  IE volition allow download and viewing only.  While you lot need to open the FTP site in Windows Explorer to get that write functionality.

On a side note I have deployed a product called 'Serv-U' which gives a single point of assistants for HTTP/FTP/SFTP upload functionality like to Filezilla's FTP only functionality.

Yah, all I want to do is have anybody who doesn't know anything about... anything to merely be able to accept a file from their desktop and drag it over into the FTP...

Did y'all endeavor using the HTTP side of the Serv-U server instead of direct FTP?  Information technology will load a fully featured HTTP based file manager.

y'all can't use HTTP every bit a transport and tunnel FTP through. Any web based upload tool will need to do an upload from your local file to the web server, and the web server does an upload for y'all in the groundwork.  hard to run across anyone would want to provide this kind of service when Amazon S3 and other cloud storage services are taking over.

Well, the FTP service is for a museum. Lots of artists and etc upload pictures of their artwork. The "IT Managing director" was under the impression that this is possible and I frankly have never used this method of uploading files. I've personally used FTP clients or Windows Explorer.

No you are correct but Serv-U provides an HTML based upload site hosted over HTTP that mimics all the FTP server settings and such.
